Origin of balanced cars

Between 1812 and 1815, Europe suffered from crop failure and hunger, while the Mount Tambora eruption in Indonesia in 1815 made Europe even worse: snowflakes flew throughout the summer of 1816, causing even greater damage to transportation, postal services, and other work. This has made Karl Drais, a German who loves mechanical inventions, ponder how wonderful it would be to invent a machine that could replace horses and manpower for mail delivery and transportation?
Karl Drays graduated from the University of Heidelberg in Germany, majoring in mathematics, physics, and architecture, and he was very obsessed with mechanical inventions. He immediately put his thoughts into action and began to make a wooden wheel car. This wooden car has two wooden wheels in front and back, with a crossbeam connected in the middle, a stool installed on it, and a steering handle added to the front wheel. Due to the lack of a transmission chain in the car, it relies on the rider's feet to forcefully pedal the ground to maintain balance in order to push the car forward. He gave the car the German name 'Laufmachine', which means' mechanical sliding forward '. After the invention of the car, he successfully conducted a 5-mile official road test in Mannheim, Germany on June 12, 1817, which took a little over an hour. This quickly made the Laufmachine balance bike popular in Europe.
With the technological progress of the Industrial Revolution, Europeans later invented bicycles on this basis, and even motorcycles that burned gasoline, but they did not break away from the basic principles and prototype of the Laufmachine balance car. The Laufmachine balance car is undoubtedly the pioneer model of bicycles, motorcycles, and electric vehicles. Nowadays, balance bikes have become cultural relics, and bicycles have gradually become tools for people's leisure, fitness, and sports. Motorcycles and electric vehicles are also restricted in many major cities in China.
Origin of children's balance cars:
Entering the 21st century, German parents who enjoy cycling for exercise have become confused about how to help their children quickly master balance and learn how to ride bicycles, so that they can enjoy the beautiful scenery and ride the land together on weekends. At this point, the Germans first thought of the great invention of their ancestors, the Laufmachine balanced car!
